课程描述

In this class we will discuss the story so far, look at difficult vocabulary, phrases, Idioms and discuss the text. We will read some of the text as pronunciation practice and answer some comprehension questions. "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a classic novella published by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886. The story is about a London lawyer named Mr. Utterson who investigates strange occurrences involving his friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the mysterious and violent Mr. Hyde. As the story unfolds, Utterson becomes increasingly concerned about the relationship between Jekyll and Hyde, who seem to be two different people with vastly different personalities. The more he investigates, the more he realises that Jekyll has somehow found a way to transform himself into Hyde, a man without conscience or morality. The novella is a gripping tale of duality and the struggle between good and evil. It raises questions about the nature of human beings and the lengths to which we will go to hide our true selves. Ultimately, it is a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked ambition and the consequences of pursuing forbidden knowledge.
