Episode 1<Cultural Knowledge>: Chinese Surnames
Everyone has their own surname, which connects them to their ancestors and represents the continuation of the family lineage. In ancient China, surnames already came into existence. Many tribes created their own surnames according to their geographical locations or occupations. And thus their surnames became the carrier of traditional Chinese culture and history. In everyday life today, Chinese people also pay a lot of attention to surnames. For example, in order to show respect when meeting someone for the first time, people often say 您贵姓? (what's your honourable surname?). Usually people will respond with 免贵姓…… (My name is.., without nobility).
