Pronunciation of the "es" at the end of French words
描述
Welcome ! ☀️
Because it’s summer — and to keep things feeling light and fun — this podcast channel aims to stay connected to French pronunciation. The episodes are short and straightforward, each focusing on how to pronounce essential French sounds that are tricky or commonly mispronounced.
Today's episode is about the pronunciation of the "es" at the end of French words.
➡️ Read the transcript while listening, to link the sounds to the spelling and also to do the little pronunciation exercice at the end.
TRANSCRIPTION :
Bonjour ! Tu vas bien ? Moi je vais super bien !
Aujourd’hui on va pratiquer un son qui s’écrit “es” et qui se prononce “euh” ou des fois “é”.
Il se prononce toujours “euh” quand il est à la fin d’un mot comme par exemple : petites. Le “euh” est discret: lavandes, tentes, tables, robes, grandes, petites …
On ne dit pas : petités ou grandés. On dit petites, grandes.
Attention les possessifs et les articles avec “es” se prononcent : les, des, mes, tes, ses.
Donc on va dire : les petites filles / les grandes vacances.
Allez, maintenant le quiz final !
So, you will speak just after I say the number. A blank will give you time to speak. Then listen to my pronunciation. Read number 2 and listen to the pronunciation again. Keep going like that.
Prêt ? C’est parti !
1: Les robes
2: Mes valises
3: Tes grandes lunettes
4: Les petites vacances
5: Des belles plages
6: Les grandes tables
7: Mes belles chemises
8: Tes énormes voitures
9: Des grandes sandales
10: Des bonnes glaces
Et voilà c’est tout pour aujourd’hui. Allez on se revoit au prochain épisode ! A bientôt !
