内卷. The word 内 (nèi) means "inside," and 卷 (juǎn) means "to roll." Together, it looks like something is "rolling inward."
But in real life, 内卷 describes intense competition where everyone tries harder and harder, but the effort doesn’t lead to real progress. Instead, people just get more tired and stressed.

On Sunday, my good friend Bai Xue and I went to a restaurant for lunch. This restaurant is very special which has Chinese food and American food. The waiter gave us two glasses of water, and she asked what we needed. 
I ordered rice and two dishes, and Bai Xue ordered a hamburger and French fries. I asked Bai Xue, do you think American food or Chinese food is better? She said, I like them all!
After lunch, we went to have fruit tea, which was delicious and cheap. We feel so happy!
