There are plans to demolish an old and unused building in the town where you live. You feel that the building should be saved. You decide to write a proposal for the town council explaining why the building should be preserved, suggesting ways to modernize it and saying how the building could benefit the local people.

Preservation of an old building: a proposal
Dear town council, I have been aware of the demolishing plans of an old, but architecturally astonishingly beautiful building in town nevertheless. Subsequently, this proposal aims to convince you of the importance of its preservation.
The current situation
Unfortunately, this building has lost its previous glorious aesthetic and has not found any purpose for the last 20 years, as it remains abandoned, without any electricity or running water.
Addressing this issue
Admittedly, we live in a world where resources have become scarce, and thus our duty is to preserve the ones we already have. In this sense, demolishing to rebuild again would be too costly. For instance, restoration experts could tackle the building’s issues, and bring the most efficient ecological solutions.
Secondly, I’ve heard of a high demand from the citizens to involve themselves more within their own communities, thus it could be greatly beneficial to provide for a safe public place. Therefore, it could serve for various workshops, especially artistic ones. Additionally, the maintenance of a rooftop green garden could be ensured by the public. This would foster not only food self-sufficiency but also social interactions.
Recommendations
I would like to make the following recommendations:
• Preserve this precious building, turning it energy self-sufficient, likewise the use of solar panels, renewable materials, etc.
• Repurposing it into a public space for workshops and a rooftop garden
Implementation of the ideas above would greatly benefit our town’s citizens' well-being while reinforcing their social interactions.
