The rain was fierce outside. Mom went on tomb sweeping with Grandpa. I worried they were getting soaked in the downpour, but admired their determination. After lunch, I accompanied Dad watching a movie about Jesus and his crucifixion. The depiction of Jesus' suffering was brutal. The sight of him, bloodied and broken, filled me with a sense of horror and empathy. I had never related the cross to such a bloody scene before. It made me see the world, and even the familiar symbol of the cross, in a harsher light.

If you ever find the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, it’s great. I think the film was made in the 1970s.
