Meaning of 말리다?
'남자를 말리러 온 대학생'
Looking in the dictionary it translates as 'to dry' but that doesn't seem to make sense in this sentence.

말리다 has another homonym with a different meaning. It means to desuade or stop someone from doing something bad. 싸움을 말리다 means to intervene in an altercation, for example.
남자를 말리러 온 대학생 = a college student who came to stop the man.
