HAPPY FRIDAY! - IELTS SPEAKING PART 2 WEEKEND TIP! Do you like to listen, read or watch stories? Of course you! And so does your examiner. And you and your examiner are not alone. Ever since the dawn of time, people have been using stories to explain life's greatest accomplishments and mysteries. And if it worked for the ancients, then it can work fo rus too! So one of the best ways to do well on the speaking exam is to tell a story. While you can always answer a question literally and try to follow the prompts, storytelling will be much easier and help you sound more fluent and natural. Why tell a story? Well, you’ve already lived it. You already know what happened. You know who was there, what it felt like, what it looked like and how it changed you or made a difference in your life. This means you don't have to think of any new ideas! When we tell a story, we have no shortage of things to say. It will also sound more natural and improve your pronunciation; which is one of the main keys to being successful with the speaking test. For example, if your question asks you to describe a possession you have that is very important to you, you can start off by saying what the possession is and then begin the story of how the possession came into your life. At this point, just keep moving along with the story and before you know it the long turn will be over. Stories have a built in structure. A beginning, a middle and an end. Finally, a story helps you use a range of tenses that will be sure to impress the examiner including narrative tenses like past continuous, present perfect and past simple. So to boost your Speaking Task Part 2 skills, try telling a story today! #IELTS #I
