If I do say so myself, my country is famous for its safety. Some people say that
Japanese take peace for granted... I think that is also correct. If I want to
keep my seat (on the bus/train ??), I just leave my wallet on my seat. (Sometimes, I'm advised not to do
that) There are no pickpockets on the trains, busses, subways etc. It has nothing to do
with travelers, but there are so many phone scams in my country. The phone scams go something
like this: (Phone calls) A: Hello? B: Hi mom, it's me! A: Who? B: It's me! A:
John? B: Yeah, help me mom. I had a traffic accident so I need $10,000 as soon
as possible. Can you transfer it to me by today? A: Oh no my son...! Are you
OK? Well... um... O, OK, I'll do it. B: Thanks. I'll give you my account number, it's ...
In this situation, person B is not John. B is pretending to be a family member.
Elderly people can't recognize their children's voices easily and they lose a lot of their money. The elderly population is bigger than the younger population in my country.
Therefore, the number of this scams is increasing. Many Japanese are kind to
travelers, but to be honest, there are many crimes in my country, the same as in other
countries. Is my country safe for the inhabitants?
