I like having a barbecue with friends, too. But we just can go to the dedicated barbecue place or bring tools to a barbecue area because we don't have a backyard.

Based on some geographical knownledge, I guess that Sichuan was a relatively enclosed area in ancient times because it was surrounded by hills. So the ancient people would eat more vegetables and meat from the mountains. When people eat these, they may use heavy seasonings to cover up the smell of the food itself, and gradually this is how Sichuan cuisine evoled. Sichuan also has a lot of delicious desserts and some other portable cooked food, they are not very spicy or the taste can be more varied according to your own preferences. For instance, in summer, we like to have more cold jelly, cold rice cake and rice wine dumplings. Others include nine foot duck, various noodle dishes, chaoshou can be self-seasoning.
