The examples given are good. I just wanted to point out that "bathetic" is not a very common word. Mainly it's reserved for some form of literary criticism. "Pathetic" on the other hand (which doesn't mean the same thing but sounds similar) is a very common word and is used frequently in conversation.

The movie manages to be poignant without becoming bathetic. Many of these stories finish with a bathetic, melancholic shrug.

The man spoke earnestly, but a third person and extraneous hearer could hardly avoid being struck by the bathetic conclusion
