What does "notch a kill" mean?

I can't hear enough of the context to know whether this means a literal kill, but the phrase in general means, "achieve a kill" (in which "kill" might be a literal kill or just a success). "Notch" derives from someone cutting a mark in a piece of wood in order to keep count of something: if you "notch a kill" it means you can mark it down as something achieved.
