Hi! Is it optional to add “that/which” after “in a similar way” in the following sentence? Or will it be wrong If I add it?
“5,000 years ago, Chinese was spoken by Chinese ancestors in a similar way English _ was spoken by British ancestors. ”

“That” is needed before English, I would say.

5,000 years ago, Chinese WASN'T SPOKEN in a similar way as English -- no tones in English, never
