In this context, 'resonates' means that this message is still powerful and relevant today.
Other example sentences might be:
Her story of growing up in a single-parent family resonated with me as I was raised by my Mum. (the story had a powerful effect on me because it's similar to my experiences)
Her poetry resonates down the ages (her poetry continues to have value / have an impact on people)
Do you want to try and write some practice sentences here and I can check them for you?

Literally, a sound "resonates" when it makes the strings of an instrument vibrate in tune with it. For example, if you press the damper pedal on a piano and yell a vowel sound into the piano, when you stop you will hear the piano strings sounding your vowel sound back at you. Your voice made the strings resonate in tune, and they kept "singing" your sound after you stopped.
Figuratively, a speech "resonates" with you if it evokes similar feelings. It "resonates" if it makes your feelings "vibrate" in tune with the message, and makes the message keep "sounding" inside you after the speech is over.
You might hear one old speech and say "that speech leaves me cold. It seems strange, out-of-date, and irrelevant." You might hear another, and say "that speech makes me want to cry. It's a message we need to hear today. It still resonates today."
