Any idea how I can tell italki that my native language is irrelevant? I'm currently searching for English-from-decent-English and German-from-C1-German classes, as well as something like French-from-German—to practice both—or Rätoromanisch-from-German—expecting to increase my chances to find a teacher at all—and I don't think that my native language is relevant. More importantly it limits the set of teachers severely. I tried to set my "native" language to "other" and there are literally two teachers matching any of my searches on the entire platform. I guess I could set my native language to German or English but that would be incorrect, and I'm not sure it will work for the teacher search purposes. Any advice?

The filtering options on iTalki aren't great, especially on certain platforms. Even the lesson time windows don't reliably work. I just resort to looking at teacher profiles, although it's very inefficient. Or, just try out different teachers on a trial basis; to some degree, you can't really tell someone's style until you meet with them. Although, if you're looking for a more structured experience, filtering only for Professional teachers will at least trim down the search results.
