Is there any defference between these sentences? 1. This soup is not as delicious as that one. 2. This soup is not more delicious than that one.

1. This soup (the one closest to you) does not taste as good as that soup the one that is farther from you. 2. This soup does not taste better than that soup (which means that it could taste just as good as that soup or that it does not taste as good as that soup). One and two are both grammatically correct but two is awkward. And the sentences have different meanings.

Hi Mike, Sentence 1 means only: This soup oooooooooooo That soup oooooooooooooooooo |<----Deliciousness--->| Sentence 2 means either: This soup oooooooooooo That soup oooooooooooooooooo or This soup oooooooooooooooooo That soup oooooooooooooooooo (i.e., that "this soup" and "that soup" are equally delicious.) Do you understand my diagram? ^o^ If not, please let me know! ^o^ Ian ~~~ Live, Love, Learn, Laugh...
