This is a positive expression for when you have met someone new and developed a good relationship with them very quickly. It can be used in any context, including business, with neighbours, social friendship, and romance.<o:p></o:p>

For example: “A new next-door neighbour moved in at the weekend. We got talking over the garden fence and we hit it off straight away. It turned out that we’re both really into gardening. It looks like he’s going to be a good neighbour.” <o:p></o:p>

I don't know if I can say that you knew how to use all the "hit" idioms correctly, Eva, as obviously cramming them into one paragraph affected its naturalness! But a native speaker could have written something similar to you if they had set themselves the same task.
