I came across another acronym but after knowing the full form of it , I could not get it at first but now got it. It is PDA--One can write it in two ways. 1--Personal digital assistant and 2-- Public display of affection.

@Nilton, you forgot to add SONAR--Sound Navigation and Ranging .

Thanks, Richard, it's a very useful list! I have come across an acronym 'PC state' a lot recently while reading comments in Daily Mail - could you please kindly advise what is meant, if you know? Judging by the context it's something like 'police state'. Google refused to help :( It might be something shared by Daily Mail readership...

Also, I came across quite a few acronyms at work and the last thing you want to do is google words when you have tons of emails to respond to!

It's not helpful that a lot of dictionaries just don't have these words at all!

I compiled a list of most common ones having done some research to exclude random words. Happy to share with anyone, just send me a message.

I didn't know that there was such a long list!

I have seen some of them before and I have had to guess the meaning by context, but having them listed here is very useful and easier! I have to admit that I didn't know most of them.

Thank so much for providing us new information!

Hi Richard

Another great post to help all the English language learners!

I'd just like to add that here in the UK PC also means Police Constable.
