I am confused about the difference among 'link', 'connnect', 'combine', 'relate', 'contact' and 'unite'

Link = 链接、连接、连结
Connect = 连接、连结
Combine = 结合、并
Relate = 涉及、系
Contact = 联系、联络、接触
Unite = 联合、团结
很多时候，有一些词是同样的意思。比如说（当动词用）： The technician linked the cables together 和 the technician connected the cables together 完全是一个意思。
