Polyglot by Kató Lomb

Hello,

I have started reading this book by a famed Hungarian polyglot, Dr. Kató Lomb.  She spoke 16 languages and wrote a book about the experience of learning a language, entitled ´´Polyglot´´.

I have reached to about page 50 reading on the Kindle, and I have been struck by her assertion that ´´innate ability´has close to no role in the language learning process.  As an ESL teacher in both Asia and South America, I have found the opposite to be true....some students just ´´get it´´.    Their brains put the pieces together fast and naturally.   And while I agree with her that method and determination are important factors, dismissing natural ability seems a bit foolish to me.

What do you all think?
