Italki is a pretty nice side income for me, and I hope it grows. I know that about 10-14 years ago, there were many people who made seven figures playing online poker. I have no idea if that's still possible (I expect not).
Way before my teaching days I worked as a baggage handler. I remember a coworker who spent all day looking for deals on Craigslist. After work and on weekends, he'd go pick up random goods and sell them for a markup on eBay. I had a lot of respect for that guy's enterprising spirit. I believe he was able to more than match his blue collar income.
I think it's great that it's so easy to find quality service (in all kinds of fields) on the internet now. I know that in many countries, skilled workers are absolutely under-compensated for their labor. The internet gives these people the opportunity to earn prices that are competitively globally, not just locally. A professional deserves the dignity of a good wage.
Ezzat...
Thank you for your kind words.
When we run a business, some of our decisions are profitable and some are not.
We have to know that in business, just like in life, there are good results and poor results.
The most important thing is to keep trying.
I do not regret trying to add the website to my business because I did the right thing, but I also know that we cannot be successful in everything we try. I did learn a lot from the experience.
I thought my experience might be a good example to answer your good discussion question.
So, trying to make a profit from the internet is always a good idea if you have a business.
Thank you for your good discussion... 10 thumbs up...

What do you mean by profit? Becoming rich?
Well, since I started teaching online, it has been very successful and my only source of income. The money I make is enough for me to go for a long trip of one year or more and still work at the same time making money. And I am lazy, I could come up with some ideas to make more money or get a passive income. I have the ideas but I just feel lazy to put them into practice, maybe because I am comfortable with my current position of teaching online.
I participate in groups of digital nomads on social medias and I can tell you that some people built some fortune out of online income. So why not? But most of the cases that I've seen so far, of people becoming really rich with online income, are usually IT people or those who have a job related to technology, programming and etc.
