Our group has reflected on this question: over the years, have we really done anything for our fathers? It seems not.
Now we're in a city <s>that is</s> far away from them, we are not able to help them with anything at all.
We find it hard to have any emotional connection with them, as their personalities tend to be reserved. So, we seldom say “thank you”. Perhaps you are the same.
However, at the very least, we should say something to him on that special day:June 21, Fathers' Day. It’s 5 days from now. Go and say “Happy Fathers’ Day”, let him know that you are grateful for him.
Or, tell him tomorrow, or even right away. ??????
If you say, 'Go and say,' it is an imperative, so you cannot then talk of 'we' - you can only refer to 'you'.
However, it is best to keep the subject consistent throughout. Either 'you', or 'we' or 'I'... not all three. And decide from there whether you use 'they' for plural fathers, or 'him' for one father.
