<ul><li>Use be going to for a plan made in the past before the moment of speaking</li><li>+ predicions based on a present evidence ( e.g about the weather)</li></ul>
<ul><li>They <em style="color: var(--sky-ui-kit-color-text-base);">are going to</em> travel to the USA. (<em>not</em> a firm plan)</li><li>He <em style="color: var(--sky-ui-kit-color-text-base);">isn't going to</em> come to the party.</li><li>There are clouds in the sky, it <em>is going to</em> rain soon! (predicion based on a present evidence)</li></ul>
<ul><li>Use Present Continuous for a personal arrangement with fixed time and/or place</li></ul>
Usage:
<ul><li>What <em style="color: var(--sky-ui-kit-color-text-base);">are</em> you <em style="color: var(--sky-ui-kit-color-text-base);">doing</em> on Friday evening?
