I'm romantic :) though I'm pretty 'whitewashed' or 'Americanized', as they call American/Canadian-born Chinese people like me.
Here in the States, the popular opinion seems to be that Chinese men are academically intelligent, but not as socially intelligent, that is, not as romantic. It's not written in stone, but in my various discussions with my male American-born Chinese friends, it seems to be that Chinese men have it a little more difficult in the dating scene here. It's a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem though, in that many Chinese men (this is a generalization!) will indeed sacrifice social life and commitments for work; if you visit most top-tier colleges here, and you'll see that there are a disproportionate number of Chinese people.
