Well, it has been almost 2 years when i start to learn Korean. i've come across one of the tips to be successful in learning it and it is by knowing how to read hangul... well, i tried it last year.... i have to say it's not too hard to being able to learn it at the first time....i mean it's not hard to start knowing the alphabet's name and shape.... but later on, the thing that i find difficult in learning hangul is to memorize them and casually read them without referring to my notes... well, it can be understood that i dont use hangul in my daily life but the most annoying or frustrating thing is i have a scare even when i just look at any hangul scripts.... i learn it yet i find it a strange thing that i have a tendency to abadon or ignore it... and i dont know if this is related to my original aim of learning Korean which is i want to learn Korean only verbally not as a whole...though i realize it is always a good thing to learn both the verbal and writing elements of Korean. and since i find it difficult to achieve both of this, i think it's better for me to concentrate on verbal aspect only. yeah, i just want to being able to speak and manage to understand when someone speak Korean. but, i dont know if my strategy is good enough for my learning... i have a doubt about it. so, if anyone has some good tips on learning hangul, please share it with me... and i always have a nightmare when i try to 'google' things in all these Korean scripts in the Korean sites.... and 'google translate' do not always translate every single tiny things in these Korean sites which in the end made me give up on using Korean sites...
I started learning Korean last year, and I'll admit I'm still slow-ish with reading hangul fast, I can read it faster if I know the word and know how to pronounce it, I tend to stop halfway through reading if I can't remember if there's suppose to be a sound rule or not OTL
I just keep practicing it when I can now, with and without knowing/remembering sound rules for now, even when speaking I'm trying to memorise how the word looks with hangul instead of memorising how it looks in romanisation letters. I did the same thing when I was learning the Japanese katakana and hiragana, it works if you do it enough ^^ and I agree with bacon on what he said.
I practiced hangul by going through the entire alphabet.
I learned to read it quicker by trying to read news articles, practicing Korean songs in Korean Karaoke rooms. Trying to read every Korean label or Restaurant/Store sign I see.
Its good to watch a few youtube videos on pronunciation of hangul letters and there are a few on reading too.
For typing try to copy a news article from naver or similar and then paste into a word document and try to retype the article below each line.

I can only advice to use hangul everywhere possible: small texts on italki, your vocabulary notepad, on any free page you can get in your hands. Hanguly will become part of your daily life and in very short time, it will be natural to use for you.
