I miss 火锅，烤肉串，过桥米线，和肉夹馍. I just returned to the US.  Our foods have too much variety to choose one favorite.  Most Americans enjoy foods from different nationalities just because we don't want to become bored.  McDonald's is NOT typical American food.  It is regional, just like Chinese food.  We have seafood regions, beef regions, barbecue regions, fried food regions, etc.

I think my favorite food, if I had to choose, would be barbecue.  It is very different from Chinese barbecue, because we use more wood smoke and sauces that are brushed onto bigger pieces of meat, which are cooked slowly.
