on French resources

I'd like to start learning French from the scratch. I’d like to do self-study until I reach A2 and get the basic foundations (passive skills; let's say reading and listening comprehension) on the language before taking lessons on Italki. I rather prefer learning on my own pace and acquire a minimum vocabulary to practice the speaking with my future tutor or teacher.

Have you guys heard of Assimil with Ease before? What about other textbooks for learning by myself?

Are there any good textbooks to start with? What Youtube channels, blogs for learning French, grammars (explained in English, German, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish or Russian), websites etc would you recommend me?

At the library I can borrow the following resources: Echo, Pimsleur, Linguaphone, Michel Thomas, Teach yourself, Objectif Express, Oxford Take Off In French, Panorama de la Langue Française 1, Tout va bien, some "Progressive du français series", Alter Ego, Metro Saint-Michel 1, Streetwise French, Colloquial French, among others. Which one is the best?

What about websites such as duolingo and lingvist (lingvist.io)?

Thanks in advance!

Personally I think the best way to learn without a teacher or speaking to a native is podcast (audio lessions) I started out using them and still do today.

My two faviourite podcasts are - coffee break french & learn french by podcast

Coffee break french is probably the better of the two as it is very easy to start with and very very informative. you start by learning basic phrases and then they teach you grammar ect...

books help but you need to hear the words at first not read them.

hope this helps

Yes, Aaron, I totally agree with you.

I usually listen a lot to my target languages in order to get used to their natural way of speaking.

I will take a look at Coffee Break podcasts.

Thanks for your response!
