We know that in English after Wh questions in the present simple tense we have to add "do/does". Like "What does she ask?" or " What do you want?".
But, is it necessary to form a question? Or it is just the matter of grammar. Since " what you want?" or "what she asks?" is completely understandable as being questions not statements, but they may not be SO in the sense of grammar.
My students keep asking me such questions and I don't really know what I should tell them, whether it is just the matter of grammar or THEY ARE NOT REALLY SOUNDS QUESTIONS. To be honest, for me, they are also sound as questions if told directly to someone.

You can ask the question without it but it doesn't sound native or natural. You would be understood but may get a funny look!

Do/does are necessary. Sentences without verbs sound broken. People will understand you, but that's not how native speakers talk, even with slang.

Yes, you can still understand it, as a question, but it is not grammatically correct.

Actually, we'd say "What is she asking for/about?" in your first example.
They are understandable and even colloquial in some places, but they are not correct English.
I think they carry the message across, even if you won't get points for them in an English exam :)
