I was educated in India. And I would like to see a change in the education for children age 4 to 18 yrs. 1) kids must not be admitted into any educational institution before the age of 4. And kids between the age of 4 and 6 must not be taught reading and writing. In a very playful style they must be taught singing, dancing, gymnastics, swimming, building blocks and board games, and introduce illustrations picture books with story telling and names of animals, birds, fruits and flowers. The is no need for tests and examination. And no need for introduction to reading or writing. 2) kids age 6 + should be give basic education in their native language. The teacher student ratio should be 1:25. This is for class 1 to 12. Introduction to English is a must. Regular reading and writing practice, basic math, environment studies, social studies, science and arts as well as personal hygiene and first aid, and gardening, must be taught in the local language or English. There should be weekly tests and grading. Report of tests should be informed to parents to determine if the child needs extra tuition in a particular subject. This extra tution should be give by the school teacher. No more term exams. 3) Secondary schools, viz. Class 9 to 12 must be divided into 3 types, viz., skills and profession, or Language and arts, or higher studies in continuation to primary schooling. Children from the age of 14 + only to be admitted. Exposure to industrial training and apprenticeship during vacation breaks is advantageous.
