What is the difference between “favorite” and “favourite” ?

It is entirely your preference as to which one to use. However, the saying, "Know your audience" would apply here. Since you are in Russia, writing in English would most likely be for a "European" audience, so use the "u" versions (labour vs. labor, etc.) .
