Percentage of national consumer expenditure by category-2002 COUNTRY FOOD/DRINKS/TOBACCO CLOTHING/FOOTWEAR LEISURE/EDUCATION IRELAND 28.91% 6.43% 2.21% ITALY 16.36% 9.00% 3.20% SPAIN 18.80% 6.51% 1.98% SWEDEN 15.77% 5.40% 3.22% TURKEY 32.14% 6.63% 4.35% The table below shows (visual) information about/regarding the percentage (change) of national consumer expenditure on different categories in/for five different/separate major countries, namely, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002. The first section consists of food, drinks, and/or tobacco. The overall highest percentage of this section was obtained by Turkey(32.4%). The second one is Sweden, while the other three countries were similar in the first section. According to the statistics, clothing and footwear was the second important consumer spending in these countries. Clearly, Italy had the highest percentage of clothing/footwear consumer expenditure. Comparatively/Noticeably, Sweden reached its lowest percentage with 5.4%. The last consumer spending was leisure and education. The percentage of Turkey was the highest (4.35%). The lowest percentage was reached by Spain (1.98%). In conclusion, it can be said that in 2002, people spent more money on food, drinks and tobacco, which were the most important consumer expenditure in the five countries
