The diagram provides us the variation of four high-tech, CD players, mobile phones, home computers and Internet accesses, from 1996/97 to 2002/03.
From the line chart, it can be seen that there was only one trend: upward. As regards the first, the use of Internet access, was started to chosen by UK households from 1998/99, went up to more than 40% by 2002/03 from 10% at first.
By contrast, the proportion for the other three modern technologies increased by varying degrees. There was a slight rise in CD players' percentage, which was always ranked the first among the four high-tech, from 60% to above 80% during the year of 2002 and 2003. Furthermore, the rate for both mobile phone and home computer increased steadily. The former also experienced a level off around the year 2000, but after that, the figure rose gradually at about 70 percentage, tripled from below 20% between 1996/97. Likewise, the trend for PC used by homes was upward steadily, from approximate 30% to more than 55%, the least fluctuation among the four modern tech.
It is noticeable that the proportion for Internet access was always lower than for the other three technologies.
