What are some of the hard things to learning languages?
I think the hard thing to learning languages are "perseverance" and "having a strong mind".
I am always disappointed by my English, because I feel like my skills are not improving as I would like.
There are just too many sounds we don't have in Japanese that exist in English, and even more rules than in my language.
The other day, I saw a TV program discussing the story of an old Japanese woman who became a famous translator in her 40's. (I guess she is 78 years old now. But she is still working and has a lot of Hollywood stars as friends).
I felt like I was acting conceited, because I thought I could study English easier than she could, since at the time there was no Internet, computers, or any apps when she studied.
I am sure that the time there were no opportunities to speak with native speakers and even go to foreigne countries.
Then I deeply reflected on myself.
Have you ever had a time when you felt it was hard studying another language?
And thought to almost give up studying that language?
I too am also feeling the same way.
When I was about to give up, I tried to recall her story.
勉強、頑張りましょう!諦めずに。そして、焦らずに。
確かにね。言語を勉強すればするほどだんだん難しくなっていくが、諦めずに頑張ればきっと努力の成果を味わう!
