Students should enjoy learning from a book as well as free chat. A book gives you a good simple conversation structure, but the topics are limited. By talking freely you will make more mistakes and learn more quickly. Book a class with a topic in mind, something that you want to improve. Perhaps you want to learn restaurant culture, how to talk to strangers in a bar, or immigration at the airport. It's all possible and easy.

But sometimes books don't teach us about the "real English"... I think both options are good and remember that make a mistake is not the world's end but it's a normal learning experience :)
