Yesterday at school I had classes of my favorite school subject, which is Portuguese, and I felt glad I didn't forget everything during winter break.
Next week, I'm going on a trip with my family to this city in this state beside ours. I hope to meet any foreigner to practice with.

Next week, I'm going on a trip with my family to a city in the state next to ours. I hope to meet a foreigner to practice with.
<em>'beside' is used more with people, which is why I replaced it with 'next to'.</em>
