I've been teaching English to adults from children for long time.
There are various types of learners. They have different backgrounds and learning styles. Some are auditory learners who learn by listening and sounds are useful for them. Others are visual learners who learn by reading and image picture with texts. Of course, there are not only these two types. You may be a mixed type or have other ways to learn.
I would like to offer you many opportunities in class to find out which type is better for you. In the long run, I hope you can come to learn your new language, independently, by yourself. Here is a key to success. Acquiring English is like sports or learning musical instruments. So practice and exercise everyday helps improve your skill naturally. Sadaharu O, a former professional baseball player, says that

"Your hard work always pays off. If it didn't, it can't be said that that makes an effort." It depends on you whether you want success or not.
English is the main language in the aviation industry even if you work in Japan. It is necessary for workers such as airline staff or mechanics after graduation. You have to read documents or understand signs written in English in your workplace. You might work with different nationalities who speak English. It's never too late to study English. I know many students don't like English, but now start it immediately! I believe that you should try to make an effort for it.
