Short essay: Laws are needed to increase recycling During the last century, the amount of trash produced by the world population increased dramatically. Recycling is a method which reuses the trash in order to decrease the amount of waste in general. Unfortunately, the amount of people who could help recycling waste is not as high as it could be and therefore offers a lot of potentials. This essay agrees with the fact that laws will force society to improve their recycling habits and therefore are needed and should be applied. Only strict laws will push people enough to recycle their garbage because most people are not directly influenced by the global waste problem. The average citizen will not care about recycling until it has a direct positive influence on his personal life. Humans tend to only do activities, where a reason can be found. Pure education will be not enough of a reason for most people, so they should be forced by law. For example, Thailand offers his citizens the opportunity to recycle their waste, but in real life nobody actually does it. This shows that an authority is necessary, which should have the shape of a recycling law. Another point is that laws will break the laziness of people who are aware of the environmental benefit of recycling, but still too cosy to be an active part of it. The act of recycling takes more time and sometimes can be a little bit nasty, due to the fact, that specific items have to be separated by hand. For example, Germany recycles 80% of its trash, but before the government created the regarding law, only 10% of the waste was reused even though Germans were educated about the environmental benefits. In conclusion, the waste of the world is a global problem which can't be recognised by everyone in their everyday life. It is the obligation of the leading governments to lead the society in the right direction. The way the people have to go has to be established by the use of laws, which simply force people to recycle and help to save the environment.
