Howdy ma’am! Good question. The first structure (BE used to), shows that one is already accustomed to some condition or habit, while the other (GET used), though semantically similar, emphasizes that there was a process of becoming accustomed. Also, don’t forget that we only follow these phrases with either a noun or a gerund, not the infinitive. Give me a shout if you have more questions about this grammar!
