The Tim じぁん!!!
Today was humid and hot, with the air feeling oppressively heavy. After school, my parents had a minor disagreement over my Siamese Beta fish, specifically, refreshing its water. My dad believed in a simple approach—running tap water into the bowl, swiftly letting the old water burst out. He argued that this method maintained the best balance of water freshness. However, my mom disagreed. She insisted on using drinking water to replace the old water entirely. Of course, I couldn't help but wonder: who was right? Is it better to purposefully keep the water slightly dirty or to use purified water?

Looking on the internet it seems your mum is correct. Tap water might contain things that are harmful to fish. You should only change about 15%-25% of the water at a time.
