I wouldn't say it's a student's MOST important task, but it IS probably one of the top three. Learning life and communication skills is in my opinion as important. A student who can't start conversations with others I believe will definitely face problems at the workplace. Or students who can't cook, clean, wash or fix stuff at home won't have comfortable lives.
