"whether" and "if" - Are there any differences? I think these can be interchangeable in most cases, but would you use "whether" / "if" in a particular situation that cannot be interchangeable? Please give me examples and explain.

whether=if : i asked him if/whether he would come. let's go and find out if/whether the museum is open. whether can't replace if in conditional sentences: if it rains tomorrow, i'll stay at home. if i had money, i'd buy a car. if doesn't replace whether: i'll do it whether you agree or refuse. i haven't decided whether to go or not.

In reported questions, these two words are EXACTLY the same. "If" has other uses, but I think you know that already.
