i have a question about expressing time.does "ten to"refer to "ten two"?

"ten to" when you see this phrase like in this sentence, "it is ten to twelve." it means it it ten minutes left before twelve. "10 to 1" = 10 minutes left before 1 when you see/hear a phrase that goes, "in ten" like in the sentence, "i'll be there in ten." it means "i'll be there in ten minutes." or "i'll be there after ten minutes."

As Christine says. 'ten two' doesn't make sense . two= 2 (the number).
