Japanese - verbs Hello I know that sometimes the particle "wa" can replace "wo", but does the verb change? Gakkou ga hajimaru yo. The school will start. Gakkou wa hajimaru yo. The school will start. Gakkou wa\ wo hajimeru yo. To start the school. (When "wa" replaces "wo", is the verb the same? IN this case with "wo", the verb is transitive and with "ga \ wa" is intrasitive, but when "wa" replaces "wo" is the verb transitive too)) Is there any difference between "koto ga dekimasen \ koto wa dekimasen". Can I use them at the same sentence? watashi wa kono shigoto wo suru koto ga \ wa dekimasen. (Normally when using the negative, japanese people tend to use "wa" instead of "wo" for example. What is the meaning of "iza"? Is there any synonym? Ex: Iza ikou ze. What is the meaning of "yoko" in this sentence? It´s meaning can be "beside, side, width", but I think this is not the case. Kame wa umi no yoko ni magutta. Thank you

I know that sometimes the particle "wa" can replace "wo", but does the verb change? Gakkou ga hajimaru yo. The school will start. Gakkou wa hajimaru yo. The school will start. →Yes both of Ok But [Gakkou ga hajimaru yo.] is common. Gakkou wa\ wo hajimeru yo. To start the school. →I want to change from Gakko to Jyugyou(=mean class) You can use in special case:jyugyou wa hajimeru yo. for example... The start time of lesson is coming, but some students still noisy. Then teacher say"Jyugyou wa hajimeru yo. with impatient. Jyugyou wo hajimeru yo. is normal using When "wa" replaces "wo", is the verb the same? My opinion Usually when we use "wa" most of case the sentence is passive sentence. However depend on case. IN this case with "wo", the verb is transitive and with "ga \ wa" is intrasitive, but when "wa" replaces "wo" is the verb transitive too)) →sorry I am not sure. I am weak in transitive and intransitive. Please give me example. watashi wa kono shigoto wo suru koto ga dekimasen. watashi wa kono shigoto wo suru koto wa dekimasen. →same What is the meaning of "iza"? Is there any synonym? Ex: Iza ikou ze. →Is it correct? I didn't use this sentence. Iza have many means Please give me another example. Kame wa umi no yoko ni magutta.→magutta? mogutta is correct? If you wrote mogutta, this yoko means "beside" or "next to"

You can say "Gakko wo hajimeruyo", but can't say "Gakko wa hajimeru yo." because hajimeru is a transitive verb. "Gakko wo hajimeruyo" means somebody starts/opens a school. You can say Gakko wa hajimaruyo., but it means "The school will start, (but other things won't start.). For example, when someone asks you "Will the school and the store start again?" , you can answer "Gakko wa hajimaruyo." It implies the store won't . The difference between "koto ga dekimasen \ koto wa dekimasen" is the same as the above example. If you said "koto wa dekimasen", it implies you can't do it, but you can do the other things or there are many things you can do. "Koto ga dekimasen" just means you can't do it. You don't mention aabout other things. "Iza, ikou" means "Hey! Let's go!" Iza as an interjection is used when you ask someone to do something with you. Iza has a different meaning like "at the last moment" or "in case of emergency" or something like that. Kame wa umi no yoko ni magutta. It's odd. Instead, "kame wa umi no yoko no shima ni ita" or " Kame wa umi wo yoko ni oyoida" may make sense. I hope it will help you and my English makes sense.

Hi, I think the sentence "Kame wa umi no yoko ni magutta." can be "Kame wa umi no soko ni mogutta.". Then it makes sense. That means "The turtle dived into the bottom of the ocean.". "soko" is "bottom" and "mogutta" is "dived."

hajimaru/hajimeru intransitive/transitive There are hundreds of these transitive-intransitive pairs in Japanese. In answer to your question, yes, the verb does change. You wil need to learn these pairs, too. ~koto wa dekimasen = I can't do it compared to something else I can do. Kaku koto ha dekimasen, yomu kotu ha dekimasu yo. The two, writing and reading, are being contrasted here.
