the meaning of “hoe one's own potato” hoe one's own potato = Each one sweeps the snow from his own doorstep and doesn't bother about the frost on his neighbor's roof. 个人自扫门前雪,莫管他人瓦上霜 ,right?hoe one‘s own potatoes = hoe one's row ?

Go here to see a hoe: http://img.tfd.com/wn/DE/62BA8-hoe.jpg This is not a standard expression in English. I don't know any connection with sweeping snow. You harvest the potatoes by hoeing them. I suppose it means: "You reap what you sow."
