A dress code is what you are and are not allowed to wear for a certain place. For example, at my school we have a dress code that says girls aren't allowed to wear shorts that are shorter than the tips of their fingers. We're also not allowed to wear tank tops! Sorry, I don't think I did a very good job explaining. Hope it helps a little bit though! ^^
