Jênisson (Aeneas)
What does this phrase mean?
To know, to esteem, to love, and then to part,
Makes up life's tale to many a feeling heart!I think that I am not accustomed to poetry. The way they are put together confounds me.

To be in love and to then leave your loved-one, is the live events most important to a person with an emotional personality/character.
I can see how every line might look like a riddle. You need to not think to hard while reading. If you try to force the words into correct english patterns while reading it, you are going about it the wrong way. Let the words that stand out do the communication. Give the rest less attention.
know - love - then part... make Life's tale - to a feeling heart
You will get a message. Sometimes we are meant to not understand by the writer. The writer's goal is to hand us something interesting to hear. If the goal was true and simple communication, we would understand the first time.

This is profound, and part of living. Another quotation is
"It is better to have loved and lost,
than never to have loved at all".
Life has many turns and twists, and if you live it to the fullest, and allow yourself to love, appreciate and experience relationships. there will be good memories, sad memories, hurtful events and hopefully, long lasting love in the end.

This is a piece of poetry, and so uses uncommon words like 'esteem' but alos combines words in ways that are not usual.
Generally, what it means is:
You meet someone, and get to know them, value them highly, and grow to love them, and then part. And this is the way life is for many people who are able to feel strong emotions.
I think it is beautiful, but sad.

Do you have a question about word meanings? Or the way they are put together in verse?
