Is that some extension of meaning for "steno pool"? (In Med Man, Roger and Don were having dinner in the restaurant) Roger: Did you know they served cheese cake to the olympic athletes in ancient Greece? Don: So, what's an extra lap or two around the steno pool for us? Two cheese cakes. I don't understand what Don said, especially he use"steno pool" which means the place where the typists (stenographers) work as I know. Could someone explain it? Many thanks!

In this case, "pool" means a collective source. It's not a physical place. At a guess, I'd say "a lap" can mean "a walk around for a look", which gives another wordplay: "cheesecake" can refer to a pretty girl, though this is fairly outdated. So a look around the available stenographers (a lap around the steno pool) will turn up only two pretty ones (two cheesecakes). Disclaimer: I have never watched Mad Men.
