What's the difference between "nie" and "niemals"?

there is no really difference between these words...maybe "niemals" is a bit more intensive example: "Ich würde das nie machen!" --> Das ist mir viel zu gefährlich! "Ich würde das niemals machen!" --> Unter gar keinen Umständen würde ich das machen!

Ja, ich stimme Chris88 zu. Es gibt "...mals" im Wort "niemals", daher bedeutet "niemals" auf keinen Fall.
