「For」は日本語で? How do I use "for" in Japanese for sentences such as: "I apologized for eating the last cookie." "I went shopping for my sister." "I went on a diet in order to lose weight." (Same things as: "...for the sake/purpose of losing weight.) Can I have lots of examples of how to use "for" in Japanese please? (In Japanese, "for" might be different words, I don't know) Help is very much appreciated :)

There are actually several Japanese meanings for "For", but the most common one is 「のために」 or 「ので」. "I apologized for eating the last cookie." 最後(さいご)のクッキーを食べてしまったのでごめんなさい。 "I went shopping for my sister." お姉さん/妹のために買い物をしました。 "I went on a diet in order to lose weight." 体重(たいじゅう)を減(へ)らすためにダイエットをしました。 体重(たいじゅう)を減(へ)らしたいのでダイエットをしました。 This is for you. これはあなたにあげます。 これはあなたのためです。 For what reason, do you want to learn Japanese? なんのために日本語を勉強(べんきょう)するのですか?

Lots of examples can be found in a dictionary. But a much better place would be: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/
