What is the meaning of "Lick 'em tomorrow"? Something like "tomorrow I will fight back"?

In this form, it means to defeat someone, not just to fight back.
"It was a tough game, but we finally licked 'em, 2 to nothing."
It is also used when you overcome some problem.
"I've tried to quit smoking before, but this time, I think I have it licked."
